Located in Powhattan County, Beaumont is the largest DJJ facility, housing older juveniles with more serious criminal records, and offering rehabilitative treatment for the largest number of incarcerated juvenile sex offenders. This facility offers apprenticeship programs in addition to a college bound program.
Activities and programs include:
Volunteers are needed to give birthday parties, to conduct chapel services and provide educational programs. Mentors and tutors are also very much needed to provide one-on-one visits with the residents. Choirs, bands, drama groups and motivational speakers are always appreciated by the residents, especially on weekends when they are out of school.
Volunteers in a juvenile correctional center can make a big difference in a troubled young man's life. Many of the residents have no visitors during their stay in the facility so they look forward to the volunteers' visits. So many young lives have been touched at Beaumont by the love and concern shown to the residents by the volunteers.
Volunteers are needed:
All volunteers must comply with applicable Department policies and facility rules.
