CSU 29 serves Tazewell, Buchanan, Dickenson and Russell Counties, an area comprising 1,835 square miles and a population of about 110,000. We partner with the Appalachian Juvenile Commission to provide electronic monitoring, outreach detention, and assigning and monitoring community service. We partner with Cumberland Mountain Community Services and Dickenson County Behavioral Health to provide services to youth on supervision with the Court Service Unit.
For youth on probation and parole, court service unit staff have access to a variety of contracted services including assessments and evaluations, individual therapy, family therapy, substance abuse treatment, therapy for youth with sexualized behaviors, and life skills coaching. CSUs access these services through DJJ's contracted regional service coordinators. A directory of services available through DJJ's RSC Model is available at: https://www.amikids.org/amikids-virginia/vendor-directory
