As DJJ’s director, Amy Floriano has worked to make a difference in the lives of the children and families DJJ serves. Now she’s reaching beyond DJJ to help another group of kids: those who have been diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD), a condition she lives with herself. On September 30, Governor Glen Youngkin presented Director Floriano with a copy of this year’s LGMD Awareness Day proclamation, drawing attention to her participation in a gene therapy trial aimed at curing LGMD and changing forever the lives of children with the condition.
