DJJ contracts with juvenile detention centers to operate detention reentry programs, housing within the JDC for direct care youth. Detention reentry prepares youth for progressively increased responsibility and freedom, helping to bridge services between direct care placements and the community. Detention reentry allows youth to begin transitioning to the community 30 to 180 days before their scheduled release date. The Parole Officer assumes primary case management responsibilities for the youth in the program. The program encourages increased visitation with families and allow youth to make connections with community supports. Youth may be permitted to go off-site to obtain employment and participate in service delivery with community providers. The following JDCs operate detention reentry programs:
